ONEPLUS 9 PRO- DETAILED REVIEW
INTRODUCTION
OnePlus 9 pro is the new flagship phone by OnePlus released on March 30,2021. After its launch in the Indian market, it faced a lot of criticism as the phone had a couple of software bugs, Bluetooth connectivity, and overheating issues. Though OnePlus has fixed some of those bugs through updates, there are still unsolved bugs in the device. Apart from that, It is a great phone.
BUILD QUALITY
Oneplus 9 Pro is an extremely handy and comfortable, lightweight, big yet snuggly phone. Weirdly, the company also did not include the latest gorilla glass 6 or gorilla glass victus. Instead, they had gone for an old gorilla glass 5 on both front and back with an aluminum frame. The button quality does not feel cheap and is pretty good. The phone weighs 197g and has dimensions of 163.2 x 73.6 x 8.7 mm. The phone is also protected with IP-68 certification. The device although does not have room for a 3.5mm headphone jack.
DISPLAY
OnePlus 9 pro has a 6.7-inches QHD+ LTPO Fluid AMOLED(1B colors) display with a 120Hz fast refresh rate and HDR10+ support. The phone has a 90.3% screen to body ratio and a resolution of 1440 x 3216 pixels. The phone has a peak brightness of 1300 nits. The display produces close to natural colors. But while watching HD videos, the blacks were not pitch black rather they had a greyish shade.
SOFTWARE
OnePlus 9 Pro has the Oxygen OS 11 which is well optimized and close to stock android with no bloatware and Ads. The position of the In-display Fingerprint sensor is relatively very lower in this phone. Rather it would have been great if the Fingerprint Sensor was moved a little higher.

PERFORMANCE
OnePlus 9 pro comes with the latest and powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, which is based on 5nm fabrication process technology, UFS 3.1 storage type, and LPDDR5 RAM type. The beast is blazing fast and snappy. The RAM management on this device is really good. The phone does not clear the background apps unnecessarily.
The gaming experience on this phone is quite good except for the heating problem. Playing heavy games like COD mobile continuously for half an hour takes the temperature to 42 degrees Celsius, which is really bad and disappointing. Even when you are shooting videos for a longer time, the phone gets warm mostly near the camera module.
The company claims that the OnePlus 9 Pro has five layers of the cooling system and the phone will stay cool as compared to the other flagship phones but the company fails to prove its claim.
Overall the gaming performance of this phone is great. Even in high graphics settings, the phone does not drop a sweat.
BATTERY
The OnePlus 9 Pro Packs a 4500 mAh battery. The phone would easily last a day with this battery, thanks to the LTPO screen that can dynamically adjust the screen refresh rate even as down as 1Hz.
The device also supports 65W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

CAMERA
The Camera performance is average and not the best.
OnePlus 9 Pro has a quad-camera setup, 48MP Primary Camera with SONY IMX 789, 50MP Ultra-wide angle lens, 2MP B&W lens, and 8MP Telephoto lens. The camera supports OIS and PDAF.
The daylight photography on this phone is great. The skin tones are produced well and images are soft. But, the Camera shows its weakness when very low light is present around the subject.
The primary and Ultra-wide angle images are slightly heavier in contrast. The Hasselblad partnership has fixed a lot of color calibration and the camera produces natural colors that have a good focus and ample details.
The color and details of Ultra-wide images are similar to the primary camera. The images have a high level of contrast ratio. The edges of the Ultra-wide shots are a little distorted.
In night-time conditions, the 9 Pro tends to saturate the colors more but the end results look well and decent.
The background has a natural blur and edge detection is pretty good. The telephoto camera can zoom from 3.3X up to 30X but tends to have a color shift from primary images.
The macro images are sharper and better. The color calibration of the images is decent enough.
SELFIE CAMERA
OnePlus 9 Pro has a 16-MP selfie camera with Sony IMX 471 sensor. The selfie camera is not so good as the sensor was debuted with the OnePlus 7 series. The images are softer and have a similar color reproduction as the portrait shots from the primary camera.

VIDEO QUALITY
The Selfie camera can shoot videos at 1080p@60/30fps but the FOV of the camera is not so good. Though the audio and video quality is decent enough from the selfie camera.
Video Quality from the rear camera is excellent. It can shoot up to 8K@30fps. The videos are well stabilized due to the OIS. The phone can shoot 8K videos at 30 fps with its Wide-Angle camera as well. But, switching between the two is not possible in a single video. The videos have great details and OIS performs very well.
The camera needs to be improved by OnePlus, though their collaboration with Hasselblad is in the initial stage. So, there is enough room for improvements in the future.

OnePlus 9 Pro has an In-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock. OnePlus 9 Pro also has an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, color spectrum.

IMPRESSION
OnePlus 9 Pro comes with a great display and a powerful processor. The camera quality is also decent but some changes and improvements have to be done in the camera segment. There are some bugs as well which need to be fixed with software updates. Also, the OnePlus 9 Pro has a heating problem.
Overall, the OnePlus 9 Pro is a decent flagship phone under Rs.70,000.
